Black Box
Beijing Playhouse black box performances have three important features:  acting, acting and acting.  These are theatre shows for the true theatre aficionado.  A little experimental, a little cutting edge, and of course, since this is Beijing Playhouse, with wonderful compelling stories.  北京剧场小剧场演出的重要特色有三：那就是表演、表演还是表演。我们的小剧场有一点试验、有一点先锋，当然了更少不了精彩的连台好戏。

Black box shows are usually presented in the round in a much more intimate setting than on Beijing Playhouse’s main stage.  These limited engagements are performed with minimal sets and costumes.  Beijing Playhouse even gives our lighting and sound designers the day off for shows in the black box.  与北京剧场平时的演出剧场不同，小剧场的室内环境和氛围更加亲近观众。演员的服装和舞台背景都力求简洁，从而为您营造出独特的小剧场体验。小剧场演出时，北京剧场甚至给灯光师和音效师集体放假。

Shakespeare
Beijing loves the Bard.  In a recent survey, Beijing Playhouse audiences said Shakespeare was what you most wanted to see.  You ask and you shall receive.  Beijing Playhouse tackles one of Bill's most popular comedies.  Heck, ya just never know, we may do ‘em all!  The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) comes to Beijing Playhouse’s black box September 5-13. 莎翁也是北京观众的最爱。在最近的调查中，莎士比亚戏剧是我们的观众最想看到的戏剧之一。想看？我们就演。说到做到。北京剧场会把莎翁所有最受欢迎的喜剧搬上舞台。您猜怎么着，我们兴许把莎翁所有的剧目来个“满汉全席”让您大饱眼福。9月5日到9月13日，北京剧场的小剧场将会演出《威廉·莎士比亚戏剧作品全集》（删减版）。

Romantic Valentine Drama
Love Letters, A. R. Gurney's Pulitzer Prize nominated drama, a smash hit both on and off Broadway, comes to Beijing Playhouse's black box for Valentine's weekend only—February 14, 15, & 16.  北京剧场的小剧场在2月14日、15日和16日将推出情人节周末专场，上演由美国剧作家A.R.格尼的作品《情书》，该剧曾获普利策奖提名戏剧，是经典流行的百老汇剧目。

This witty drama centers on just two characters—the staid, dutiful Andrew Makepeace Ladd III and the lively, unstable Melissa Gardner.  They sit side by side at tables and read the correspondence of their bittersweet relationship.  在这部诙谐的戏剧中，男女主人公分别是公忠厚老实的安德鲁·M·莱德三世和外向活泼的梅丽莎·加德纳。《情书》记录了两人从儿时起的通信往来，讲述了这对欢喜冤家的苦乐参半的恋爱故事。

The lawyer and the artist discuss their hopes and ambitions, dreams and disappointments, victories and defeats that have passed between them throughout their separated lives. It is only at the sad ending that they realize they were really love letters all along.  Directed by John O’Toole. 尽管两人各自都有着个人的事业和家庭生活，男主人公律师安德鲁和女主人公艺术家梅丽莎彼此的通信却记录着二人对人生的希望和雄心、梦想与失落、以及成功和失败的点滴。直到故事的终了，才让人心碎的发现，这一封封的书信原是寄托着万千情思的情书。剧目导演由约翰·欧托担任。

Desire, Desire, Desire Author Christopher Durang takes all the literary classics and mashes them up into one 15 minute zinger.   Directed by Brandon Blackburn-Dwyer, with an eight member cast, Desire, Desire, Desire is available for booking year round. 剧作者克里斯多夫·杜让在提炼了多部文学经典的精华之后，写出了这部长约15分钟的浓缩剧。由布朗顿·布莱克伯恩-多恩执导、8名演员表演的戏剧《欲望三重奏》可全年预定演出。

Blanche DuBois, her nerves shot, is stuck in a house with a slobby Stanley Kowalski, who keeps yelling “Stella!.” Stella left for a lemon Coke six years ago and never returned. Blanche tries to seduce a young census taker, but is interrupted by Big Daddy and Maggie from Cat on a Hot Tine Roof.  A “tart” from Iceman Cometh shows up as well.  Stella comes back briefly, but departs again, leaving Blanche and Stanley stuck together for eternity. 布兰琪·杜波伊丝一时冲动嫁给了一直对前女友 “斯蒂拉” 念念不忘的懒汉斯坦利·科沃斯基。6年前，斯蒂拉说是去买一瓶柠檬可乐却一去不返。布兰琪则试图引诱一个年轻的户口调查员，不料却被中途闯进来的《朱门巧妇》中的“老爹”和“麦姬”打断。其间，您还能一睹《彗星上的贩冰者》中的尖酸和辛辣讽刺。尽管斯蒂拉后来曾回来，但稍即又离开，留下布兰琪和斯坦利这对夫妻在磕磕绊绊中走向永远。

In English
Black box shows are in English.  This is Beijing Playhouse, after all, and we do everything in English.  Even though we are in China.  You see, we're a little bit crazy.  Our main stage shows all have subtitles, but black box shows do not.  小剧场演出是纯英文表演。北京剧场就是要提供给你一个全英文的环境。尽管在中国，这着看起来多少有点疯狂。但是我们在通常演出时都会配有中文字幕，但是小剧场演出不会提供中文字幕。
